What Type of Plan are you most interested in?
Tips for picking the best plan for you.
- All plans are not alike- If Plan A is 30% less than Plan B try to understand why. If you agent doesn't explain it to you, get a new agent.
- Match a PPO Network to your needs. If your providers are not in network, do not buy that plan. Hospital and provider "CASH" pricing is ridiculous. If your providers are not in the PPO, expect 50-70% of the bill to not be covered at all.
- Don't sweat the small stuff. - Get a good comprehensive plan that Protects you. If the copay is $10 too high, don't pay an extra $50 per month in premium to get a plan to save you $10 on your copay.
- If you get an HSA eligible plan - Open an HSA Trustee Account - If you buy a plan that is HSA eligible, open the trustee account. You can use your funds for dental, long term care, medical, vision. These funds are deductible when you put them in and tax-free when you take them out for a legitimate expense. Only 30% of HSA-Plan-Elgible customers open the Trustee Account. You only have to fund it when you need it.
- Don't get Short Term insurance to solve a long term need. - Use it as a bridge, not as a crutch.
